Michael A. Russo is the owner, “farmer- florist ” and creative force behind TLF. Born into a family of passionate Italian-American gardeners, Michael has turned his memorable childhood days of playing in the earth into his current green business as organic farmer and floral designer. He has been involved in floral design since 2003.
Recently retired from 33 years in a career as an Art Educator, Michael uses his innate knowledge of color, composition and balance to create beautiful and unique floral creations for private and commercial clients. Michael is also a certified CT Master Gardener and an inquisitive naturalist, who has a keen awareness of what is available each season. This mindfulness allows him to weave unique and natural elements into his botanical designs. A long time member of CTNOFA (Northeast Organic Farmers Association), he is a conscientious grower and maintains a “green” perspective when designing for his clients or growing wholesome produce for his customers.
An incurable collector of Horticultural and Victorian ephemera, he has a vast inventory of books and artifacts on topics ranging from heirloom Vegetables, Valentines and the Victorian Language of Flowers. His expertise on these subjects has allowed him the opportunity to share his enthusiasm and collections in several public venues and media. Michael has had his collections featured in Martha Stewart Living Weddings Magazine and has appeared in a television segment with Martha on the Secret Language of Flowers.
Michael is always looking ahead to what’s next in the floral and organic food universe and is excited about sharing his ideas, designs and concepts with you.
